This place treats everyone like a shoplifter like you're going to steal. Even the African American security guard tells you you can't bring your backpacks in or he'll ask you to look into them. Very unprofessional. Well won't go here again

I had the weirdest experience in here, felt like a scene from the Twilight Zone. I went in here around 6 pm on February 9th with a $20 in my hand. The man pictured below was behind the counter. I thought nothing at first as I placed the money on the counter and said “Hello, $20 on pump #4 please. I also have a rewards number” I then noticed that the man was standing straight as a board, only moving his right arm (tapping the buttons on the screen in front of him), and only moving his eyes. He proceeds to say “Okay do you have a rewards number with us?” he responded in an emotionless and flat way. Thinking nothing more I responded “Yes” and then screen allowed me to input the number. After that I said “okay got the number in” as there was an akward silence between us.“Cash or credit today?” again in a low monotone voice. I then respond “$20 cash” as I motion towards the bill on the counter. He replies “Okay, $20 cash” and taps the screen a very slowly. Mind you, this entire time he has only moved his eyes and his right arm and is speaking in a very robotic manner. After a brief pause he then repeats himself, “Cash or credit today?” I laugh to myself and reply “$20 cash.” Again, as if it was programmed into the man, “Okay, $20 cash.” This same situation then repeats itself as if the man was truly a robot that was glitching and repeating itself. Throughout the next 3 minutes I had the thoughts of “This has to be a joke, he’s messing with me” or “This man has a gun to his head that I’m not seeing and if he messes up his lines it’ll end badly.” Though, none of this was logical I finally grabbed the $20 bill off of the counter and lifted it right towards him thinking he may have not seen it (Although it was placed right in front of him and i pointed at it multiple times). He reached out and grabbed it, placed it into the drawer finally, and said “Have a nice day” (In the same robotic sort of way). As I walked away he kept repeating “Have a nice day” in the same tone and same way until the door shut. I the pumped my gas. Right after pumping my gas I realized I forgot to get a drink and that’s the main reason I went into the station in the first place. I proceeded to walk back in but this time with the intention of checking on the man and breaking his script. I walked back into the store, grabbed a soda out of the cooler and walked up to the register. There, stood the man in the same exact position. Head still facing the same way, back straight as a board, and arm in the same 90 degree angle touching the screen. He acted as if he hadn’t seen me 2 minutes prior. “Just the soda” I said, “Okay do you have a rewards number with us today?” This time I said no and he asked “Cash or credit today?” same tone and same way as before. I responded “Credit Card” this time and held up my card for him to see (I was trying to be as nice as possible, maybe he couldn’t move his neck for some reason so I just wanted him to see the card that way there wasn’t the whole “cash or credit” on repeat this go around). He the proceeds to say “Credit Card” with another brief pause before asking again “Cash or credit today?” I realized it was the same scenario as before and finally said “I will be paying with a card.” He tapped the screen and I was able to insert my card into the machine. While my card was processing I asked “How is your day going?” His eyes shot from the screen straight to my eyes, I have never seen such an abrupt stare and sudden expression. Though his eyes and face were emotionless before, I felt that he had just seen a monstrosity with the way his eyes were looking at me. 1000 yard stare. He only responded with “good.” and turned his attention back to the screen. After another short moment he again told me “Have a nice day” once my card was approved. As I grabbed my drink and headed towards the door I said “You as well” as he repeated “Have a good day” over again and again just like the time before. I found this picture from a different review as I didn’t get my own. The most uncomfortable experience ever.

Gas pumps work 50% of the time.

Love the new pumps and there's nothing like getting 50 and 60 cents off per gallon of gas for 91 octane and only pay $2.47 or so just for getting groceries at Safeway. Shopped at Safeway with my family when I was old enough to walk (and before) and I am 43 and shop there still today...
